First to identify a number of terms to help us. With the advent of HDTV has developed a new term is Referring to the old format of standard definition TV. However, a camera with 540 TV lines would be called a camera high resolution. However, they could both be regarded as standard-definition cameras, because they are not cameras or cameras megapixel HDTV. We will explain in more detail megapixel IP in a moment.

Resolutions of the seizure or a camera Analog cameras
When reading a technical security camera, you will see two sets of numbers opinion on the sensor camera. A list the number of pixels (768,494 HX V) for the sensor and the other rates of horizontal resolution (TVL) of the camera.
Effective pixels = 768 (Horizontal) x 494 (vertical)
Horizontal Resolution = 540 TV lines
The difference between the two is the ratio of pixels and a ratio image. The aspect ratio has to do with the actual number of pixels the sensor is able to capture. The proportions of the image is based on what the NTSC standard analogue signals (composite video) was designed to treat. The numbers are different, but using the mathematics behind you can calculate how the two relate. We will avoid the calculations for this discussion.
Since standard analog security cameras do not have a square pixels, there are two types of picture aspect ratio. There are aspect ratio storage and aspect ratio.
Ratio Storage
The aspect ratio is the size of digital storage of the image as it is stored on digital media. For example, the highest resolution stored using composite video (which is what comes from an analog camera) is 720x480. Is the same as that of a DVD movie in standard definition.
When storing video on an analog DVR security you have several options for resolution. The Typical settings are available for storage CIF, 4CIF and 2CIF.
- CIF = 352 x 240
- 2CIF = 704 x 240
- 4CIF = 704 x 480
Aspect ratio
The aspect ratio display can be viewed as what is considered a 4:3 which is the NTSC standard. This limits the number of rows of data that can actually be displayed. This explains why a 768 horizontal sensor when viewing on a screen of 4:3 will result in only 540 TV lines of resolution. (Note: a standard definition movie on a DVD could be in 4:3 or 16:9, but the pixel size is still 720x480 for storage.)
latest standards for television have brought HDTV with a 16:9 aspect ratio that allows a greater number of lines of resolution to be displayed. new techniques cameras are now able to capture higher resolutions, will allow users to store and display these higher resolutions.
Standard resolution IP cameras
Standard resolution IP cameras can produce the same resolution options as indicated above for the Storage DVR and video data can be stored on a hard drive in any PC using the camera software is installed. They can also generally make full D1 resolution of 720 x 480. Standard resolution IP cameras can also capture 30 frames per second. Typically, they are configured to operate at lower resolutions and frame rates to help the bandwidth and data storage.
IP Cameras Megapixel resolution
Just a quick note on megapixel IP cameras. Megapixel cameras can capture video at resolutions well higher, but are not necessarily the same as high definition as high definition. HDTV is a very specific set of resolutions available. HDTV 720p is 1280 x 720 1080p HDTV is 1920 x 1080. HDTV also runs at 30fps.
A camera is 1.3 megapixel megapixel with a resolution of 1280 x 1024. From there, the megapixels up. 2, 3, 5, and on up to 16MP. However, they are not able to capture images at 30 fps. In general, they are just capturing from March to July fps. Megapixel cameras can display more than the HDTV resolutions on monitors PCs that support higher resolutions.
