Nursing homes are nearly last place anyone wants to be, but about 1.6 million people live today in a certain type of nursing home in the United States. Believe it or not, 30 years from now, the number should be a huge 5 million.

The agency conducts annual surveys of each house Nursing and also considers complaints from members of the family. Find out who the agency is licensed by the State of your home nursing. They are required to provide this information to you once your place is in the nursing home.
o If you think your family member may be a victim of any form of abuse or neglect by the nursing home, you can and should file a complaint with the state and licenses Certification Division. They are required to investigate your complaint. If the Division of Licensing and Certification justify your complaint, they have the power to issue a citation against the facility, impose a fine and require corrective action.
