Hearing loss is a sudden or gradual decrease your ability to hear. Your family and friends can be the first to notice a problem hearing, especially if it has gradually developed over a period of several years. You may not be aware of the magnitude your loss until someone else brings it to your attention. It may be difficult for you to accept these new but it is important to realize that recognition of a loss of hearing is the first step towards improving the quality of your life.
Often, high-pitched sounds, such as women and children u2019s% of votes or the singing of birds are the first sounds that begin to "disappear". Then You may notice other signs of hearing loss such as:
- Misunderstanding and / or misinterpretation what others say.
- The difficulty hearing the telephone or television.
- Difficulty hearing speech, especially in the presence of background noise, people seem to be mumbling when they speak.
- Difficulty hearing in public gatherings such as concert halls, theaters or places of worship where sound sources are far away.
- Difficult to hear or follow conversations.
- Ringing, roaring, whistling or buzzing in the ears (tinnitus).
- Vertigo or feeling that the play is running or that a person is in rotation.
Hearing loss can be a source of embarrassment. Adults who show signs of hearing loss usually develop a variety of ways to cope with difficult listening situations, such as:
- Frequently asking others to repeat or speak louder.
- Accept or shake your head during conversations when you're not sure what is being said.
- Turn your head to one side while listening to sounds or speakers.
- The lip reading so that you can try to follow what people say.
- Delete conversation you when it is too difficult to hear.
- Installation of television, radio or stereo volume to a level that disturbs others.
- Avoid social gatherings such as restaurants or parties where the background noise, it is difficult to understand a conversation.
You should contact your health professional if:
- Your hearing loss is persistent and unexplained.
- Your hearing loss affects your style life.
- Your hearing loss is associated with other symptoms such as ear pain or drainage of fluid from the ear.
