Our history gives us an appreciation of both our present and our future. There are even relevant words such as "The child is father of man" to express the role of the past in shaping our present. At present, the past has a significant influence on my current views and philosophies. However, the influence is not control.
Although the word "Control" can be used in the meaning of "regulate" it has a greater implication, a bit like "love" or "hatred". For something or someone tells me I'm headed or restricted by an external entity.
So what does this mean for my past control my life? This could mean that my memories and history to dictate my pace or limit me in some way. In any event, our past is not a force or a being who can take independent control our control. It can not be allowed to control ourselves or our lives.
The past is the sum of all the memories and circumstances; painful shivers guaranteed. Like everyone, I was very good and very bad experiences with many scattered along this continuum. Until few years ago, I used to leave some of my experiences dictate how I responded to the public. I counted on my past as a crutch rocky and thus allowed him to dictate my social interactions. The sum of my experiences became an excuse for withdrawal office.
One of my favorite songs was "The years of life." The first two lines of this song made me think the effect of circumstances. It makes me think about the circumstances and responsibility. And if we keep blaming our history and circumstances throughout life? This is Then I decided that I will take possession of my past. I spent my conceptualized as something that affects the controls, but not me.

It is true that we must control before us something other master. Fortunately, I realized at an early age as the control, suppression and repression were inherently different. You may think you are controlling your past by not cope with it, hide it or delete it. But memories, emotions or deleted still find a way to dictate how we live. Part of the reason is that the control of the past manifests itself emotionally and psychologically.
Failure to respond to our past by unwillingness or inability at worst harmful or at best limited. This applies to the sum of our two good and bad experiences. My firm belief is that my past and should influence me, but he controls me. I think to know my strengths and my weaknesses, to know me.
Find your control and power over your life is essential. Just accept things that you can not change and change things that you can (like the Serenity Prayer). Your memories and the circumstances could be a reference point for you: a box you can feel free to dig without fear.
Taking Control of my past certainly opened new doors for me and helped me achieve greater serenity. Just as it is wrong and useless to blame the previous generation, it is unnecessary to allow your own past that you control.
