Definition of Gum Disease
Gum disease refers to inflammation of the soft tissue and loss of bone that surrounds the teeth and holds them in place. Gum disease is caused by toxins secreted by bacteria in "plaque" that accumulate over time along the gum line. This plaque is a mixture of food, saliva, and bacteria. Typical early symptom of gum disease is gum bleeding. Pain is a symptom of more aadvanced gum disease as the loss of bone around the teeth leads to the formation of gum pockets. Bacteria in these pockets cause gum infection, swelling, pain, and further bone destruction. Advanced gum disease can cause loss of teeth.
Treatment of Gum Disease
Treatment of early gum disease involves oral hygiene and removal of bacterial plaque. Moderate to advanced gum disease usually requires the removal of plaque and tartar (hardened plaque) from exposed teeth roots while sub gingival curettage refers to the removal of the surface of the inflamed layer of gum tissue. Both of these procedures are usually performed under local anesthesia and may be accompanied by the use of oral antibiotics to overcome gum infection or abscess. Follow-up treatment may include various types of gum surgeries. In advanced gum disease with significant bone destruction and loosening of teeth, teeth extractions may be necessary.
Prevention
There is a direct relationship between condition of your teeth and condition of your gums. What it means is that if you have a lot of cavities caused by tooth decay and they are not treated properly, more likely it will affect your gums. And vice versa if your gums are in very bed shape, developing gingivitis represents a big risk of loosing teeth. In other words their health is closely intertwined. One should take tooth decay and gum disease very seriously, that is why prevention is essential to avoid dental problems. Brushing and flossing of teeth regularly is the most important step in oral hygiene. Many people use also commercial mouth wash products that usually contains alcohol, preservatives or other undesirable ingredients that may have negative side effects on your health, can kill bacteria in the mouth but can do very little to keep your gums healthy.
However, you can replace mouth wash with a natural solution that you can create from sea salt and water. With saturated solution (1 teaspoon of sea salt in 4 ounces of warm water), you rinse your mouth holding the solution in your mouth for at least a minute. If you want you can add to the solution a few drops of essential oils like tea tree, mint, peppermint, lemon, thyme, fennel and few drops of grapefruit extract and you get a cheap and natural potent solution that keeps gums healthy, aids in healing, kills bacteria and refreshes your breath. If used daily or couple times a week, you can effectively maintain optimal oral health. This treatment can be especially useful after oral surgery and other invasive dental work.
Why sea salt water is more effective than any other mouth wash?
The answer is in close observation and research done by scientists and by centuries of usages of sea salt as a therapeutic healing remedy. Dr. Christian W. Hahn, a respected general and cosmetic dentist noticed that there was a difference between his patient's gums, ocean surfers and those that did not swim or surf in ocean. One group had healthy gum tissue, the other less healthy gums, yet each had the same average oral hygiene habits. What was a difference? Those who spent significant time in ocean had remarkably healthier gum tissue than normal.

Scrabble players may find ways around the former problem in more challenging games but that aside, Oulipo Saliva plays well enough without knowledge of that particular self-limitation, if one has an addiction to spare post-punk pop and its many spinoffs and paths. Acts ranging from early Orange Juice and the Young Marble Giants to Antena to, in its occasional weaving together of chamber jazz arrangements and polite distance, some of the feeling of Hex-era Bark Psychosis, all feed into Angil & the Hiddntracks' aesthetic, not to mention a melancholic and winsome accompanying mini-comic book/lyric sheet. Songs like the piano-led clap-along "Took No Drugs, Had No Drink" and "Lift Trip to Mars" sound like escapees from a twisted cabaret, with the appropriately off-center feeling, while Angil's own very distinctly British-accented singing adds an arch art-pop air that steers away from smoothness for a more questioning, puzzled feeling (reaching a kind of apotheosis in the end lyrics on the album's conclusion, "Final List," with expletives sung with calm but vivid passion).
