external catheters, also sometimes called condom catheters, sheaths penis, urinary or sheaths, are a valuable part of the management of incontinence for millions of men.
There are many variations available and the styles, materials, and other details vary by manufacturer but the basic principle of these devices remains the same: the containment of urine is placed over the penis and collects the urine or in a pocket or integral drainage bag is connected to the containment device.
The most common system configurations Use a soft, latex flexible vinyl or silicone sleeve that fits over the penis like a condom and has a certain type of glue, which are often integrated to "sheath itself. - Torsion, kinking or compression of other disturbances of the end sheath or tube connection may interfere with urinary flow. In some cases this can lead to "repression", which loosens the duct and can cause leakage.

As with all management tools of incontinence, there are some important factors to consideration. Sheaths come in a variety of sizes, and using the correct size is essential to making the best use of the product. Sizing differs according to the manufacturers, so be sure to check out the sizing charts for the product you are considering.
Learning to use a system sheath may take some time and may require training. Consult your doctor before using this type of system.
