Types of infrared cameras
Infrared image sensors 1.Cooled - Most modern cooled infrared cameras work in the range 60K 100K temperatures. The cooling is required for the operation of semiconductor materials used inside the device photo. Therefore, these IR detectors are contained within cryogenically cooled covers. However, the range of temperature varies based on performance and the type of camera. These detectors provide great images, if the cooling is done correctly. However, a disadvantage of using such a device is that it is expensive. These cameras are large, but the image quality is superior to other varieties. Some semi-conductors used in the camera are lead selenide, indium arsenide, cadmium telluride and mercury and indium antimonide.
2.Uncooled Infrared sensors - Usually uncooled infrared cameras use a sensor operating at a temperature close to temperature. The uncooled infrared cameras modern work with the help of sensors modified by resistance, current and voltage when is heated by infrared radiation. These cameras do not require cryogenic cooling and are also smaller. This makes them a bit cheaper than those cooled. The operation of uncooled infrared cameras are mostly based on ferroelectric and pyroelectric materials. The quality of the image is good, but lower than those cooled.
The use of infrared cameras
These cameras have been manufactured for use military during the Korean War. These cameras are very effective while taking in the dark. These are now widely used in the fields of archeology and medicine. Infrared cameras are more powerful day by day and they found various other uses in multiple fields. Today, they are also used in the fields of astronomy, the operations against the fire, health monitoring and surveillance, the roof inspection, investigation into the paranormal and also that the flame detectors.
