Just the name alone might scare some people, but today I'll show you some of the best ways to grill filet mignon. It that .... hard just takes a little practice is all.
This is probably one of the easiest things that you grill. Why, you ask? Because you have much less to do when you're grilling fillets when you're grilling anything else.
There is less preparation time, less work involved, less stress, less work, less messing around with everything. And less seasoning, believe it or not, and that says a lot since now is that I am here now to rub barbecue.
But filet mignon is so great in themselves that you do not need many additional seasonings, it would just remove the size of the steak and its natural flavor and taste. Salt and pepper, cracked black pepper, it everything you need.
Here is a large piece of filet mignon cooking, or most of the pieces of meat for when you're ready to grill. them out, especially the net and rub some crushed black pepper everywhere. Now, wrap a piece of bacon around the net and tie it with a toothpick that has been soaked in water for about 30 minutes.
Two things, bacon infuses a certain flavor, but basically keeps the moisture of the meat because it is such a lean beef. And two, when you grill the filet mignon, you want the steak on the counter and let stand for about 45 minutes. You will let come to room temperature.
You do not have a steak very cold and then try the grid when it's so cold inside. The outside will be burnt black and the inside will always be believed. You did not pay all that money just to throw it.
Now Pre-heat your grill very hot when you are cooking filet mignon. Place the steaks on it after its entry to the temperature and enter the outside for about 3-4 minutes. Now, after burning two sides and got good marks from the grill there, move the steaks on where they end with an indirect heat. Now they cook, and it will not take that long to finish ... probably no more than 6-10 minutes max.
Here is a good rule:
rare 130 and above
medium rare to 135 degrees
average 145 degrees and up
Now you can use an instant-read (digital) thermometer. When he finishes, you always, always need to place a plate and let stand. I can not emphasize too strongly: let stand for about 15 minutes. Then and only then can we really enjoy.
Just or two things left. You notice I never mentioned the salt. One, that the use of sea salt or kosher salt, the taste is much better than crazy iodized stuff they pawn off at the grocery store like salt .... you know, the blue box .... no names mentioned.
And you put salt on only after burning both sides. Then, you can greatly salt it (to taste).
And two, never break a piece of meat when grilling. As a professional chef, sometimes I think I was born with a pair of pliers in his hand. Always use tongs, never a fork bend where it punctures the meat.
That is, these are some good tips for when the tenderloin roast. Try them and you should have steaks really enjoy.
