A leather journal may be considered as your best friend. Why, you ask? This is because it is on your leather diary that you are able to write about your innermost secrets and other private information that you want to just keep to yourself. For as long as you store your diary in a secret place, you'll need not worry about other people learning about your secrets and desires. Your journal is also there as an aid for you to be able to vent out any frustrations or anger that you may be feeling. With it, you can also share your aspirations and whatever type of emotions you may have.
Since your leather diary is something valuable, you should take some steps in order to preserve it. First and foremost, you have to be able to protect its cover, especially since leather is a bit more expensive than common covers such as plastic and paper. Be sure to look for the proper place where you can store your journal. Look for a drawer for storing your leather journal because in this way, it will be protected from dust.
Another tip to remember is to never place your diary in a drawer situated in a humid spot because humidity can bring about cracks on your diary's leather cover. Those cracks, of course, can be beyond repair, leaving them there forever. You also have to see to it that your journal is not stored in a place where there are ink bottles and sharp objects near it. Keep in mind that spilled ink is very hard to get rid of, while sharp things like blades and pins can accidentally damage your leather journal.
It is also a must to clean your leather diary from time to time. Avoid using coarse material when wiping off the dust from your diary. What's recommended is that you utilize a dry cloth made out of cotton or a soft textured material for cleaning your journal. For dirt particles that may not be removed easily, it is okay to dampen the cloth slightly while wiping the cover with care. Afterward, use a dry towel to remove the dampness. Remember too that washing your diary is a big no-no as water actually brings damage to things made of leather.
In the event that your leather journal gets stained, just use soap that's gentle yet effective enough to remove the stain. You may place a small amount of soap on a damp cloth then gently rub on the stained portion. You can stop rubbing gently until the stain disappears. To remove the soap on your leather diary, just wipe away with the cloth, and never rinse it under running water.
Just like any other possession, you have to take care of your leather diary. Bear in mind that something as useful and as valuable as your journal deserves the proper care. By simply following the tips mentioned that pertains to caring for your leather journal, you can be sure that your beloved diary will last for years and years.
