Remote control uses radio waves to send commands to different devices. They are electromagnetic waves of different frequencies, emitted by antennas and received by radio receivers.
Therefore, when you press a button on your remote control radio, it sends radio waves to your music system, which decodes the signal and obeys your commands. A striking feature of the radio controls is that they can send signals over long distances, since radio waves travel as long as 100 feet to reach the receiver. They can even penetrate walls, and hence higher number of modern devices are now designed with radio controls.
The Bluetooth technology also uses the principle of frequency radio. For example, Bluetooth technology can connect your home entertainment system, mobile phone, music system, computer and TV using radio frequencies to transmit signals between them. It creates a community of your wireless gadgets that literally speak to each other. Each device operates on different frequency bands.
For example, megahertz alarm systems and safety at work at 40 MHz, mobile phones between 824-849 and a radar air traffic anywhere between 960-1215 MHz. Now the question is arises if there are many frequencies travel through the air at the same time, how to know what gadgets they receive and which to ignore? When the advanced radio remote controls send radio waves, their unique numerical address is also sent embedded in the waves, which targets the receptor recognizes and accepts. This technology chip is already used in cellular phones, Wireless Fidelity (WiFi) environments and wireless phones.
Future our need to remotely control multiple devices increases, radio remote will be seen playing more important roles. Tasks in risky environments, as space and military scenarios, can be done by remote control.
