So what is a plug slip? Well, a slip float is a float that slides freely along the fishing line. For cap to work must be a way to keep at least some place on the fishing line. To use the clip on the old type, just clip cap above the hook to the depth you want your bait to be under water. That is fine but it limits the ability to cast if you want to fish deeper than about 3 feet. Here the sliding stopper shines the clip on type. The cap allows you to slip cast almost as much as you would normally. You can also fish as deep as you want. I used to catch Crappie floats sheet 30 feet deep in 40 feet of water.
Rigging a slip cap takes a bit longer than using a clip on type, but it's worth the little extra effort. The old style clip on the type of a clip to hold the line. Slip floats have a hole through them so they can slide up and down the fishing line. There is usually a small knot tied on the fishing line to stop the cap from sliding up line. The line used to tie the knot is usually made of string. You can buy fake knots all ready set up to put on the line. To save money, I floss. Then, a small bead with a hole through the center is slipped over the line. The knot must be fairly great to end the pearl slip past the knot, but small enough to pass through the rod guides easily. Now the cap is slipped over the line and the hook is tied to the end of the line. I usually place a split shot on my line between my hook and sinker. The split shot keeps cap off the hook while casting.
You'll find that you will be able to use a sliding plug in many more situations than you might have with the clip on type. You can use slip floats Precision keep you right next to the bait to the bottom, regardless of depth water.
The next time you mark suspended fish on your sonar, try using a sliding cap set at the depth fish. I use this technique a lot in winter, when are suspended deep. Good luck!

Mark Feldman: Book of Tells $11.18 As versatile a composer as he is a performer and recording artist, Mark Feldman demonstrates extraordinary skills and a wide range of expressions in Book of Tells: Five Pieces for String Quartet, his 2001 release on Enja Records. However, it may be argued that the discipline of writing for string quartet is too rigorous for Feldman's effusive, showy style, and that these pieces function less as cogent works for four equal players than as virtuoso pieces for solo violin, discreetly backed by a trio. If any of these offerings suffers from such an imbalance, then it is the Kit Suite, which Feldman arranged from the original version for violin and piano. Despite an honest effort at integrating the parts, Feldman's vigorous solo stands out quite vividly, and the other musicians have either accompanimental passages or imitative extensions of the leading line. More naturally conceived for this instrumental grouping are Windsor Quartet, which has an evolving, conversational flow, and Book of Tells, which was composed for the Kronos Quartet, and sounds tailor-made for that famous foursome in its even mixing of distinctive lines and solid ensemble masses.
