March 7th through March 13th was "Read an Ebook Week", and for that week, much emphasis was made on encouraging publishers, authors, and ebook reader owners to spread the word about the joys of electronic reading. Registered with Chase's Calendar of Events last 2004, this was already the event's 6th year. If you are an owner of the Barnes & Noble Nook or the Amazon Kindle, it is time to promote the benefits of ebook reading.
To those of you who have yet to embrace the ereader technology, here are some great things about it:
Easy Access. If you are a business person who travels frequently for work, an ereader is a perfect compact device that gives you access to your personal library, magazines and newspapers. No more lugging around of your favorite books or important reading resources.
Save Time & Money. Because you have the ability to download the next book quickly and easily, an ereader is a great time saver. Also, ebooks are generally less expensive than paper books, and you won't have to drive your car to the book store.
Space Saving. Think of all the shelf space you'll save just because your library is contained electronically on an ereader. All of your favorite reads will be accessible and easy to carry in a briefcase, purse, or backpack.
Environmentally Friendly. Although the plastic and energy used for an ereader can be poor for the environment, manufacturers are on the road to creating the latest and greatest ereader. Additionally, ereaders leave a smaller carbon footprint than paper books, and think of all the trees that are left untouched.
This is definitely a positive way to virtually embrace ereader technology. "Read an Ebook Week" is just in time to mute the focus on the agency model hub-bub, and truly shed positive light on this great technology.
